Adele's First Major Acting Role with Renowned Director

Adele's Cinematic Debut: A Star-Studded Collaboration

Adele, the globally renowned singer, is making her mark on the big screen with a film that promises to be as grand as her musical legacy. She has joined forces with Tom Ford, a celebrated director and designer, for her first cinematic venture. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in her career, showcasing her versatility beyond music.

The film, titled Cry to Heaven, is based on Anne Rice’s 1982 novel of the same name. Set in 18th-century Italy, it explores the intertwined lives of a Venetian nobleman and a castrato singer within the opulent yet perilous world of opera. The story is rich with drama and sensuality, offering a compelling narrative that aligns with Ford's artistic vision.

A Stellar Cast and Visionary Director

Adele is part of an impressive ensemble cast that includes Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Thandiwe Newton, Ciarán Hinds, and Hunter Schafer. This lineup underscores Ford's commitment to creating a film that is both visually and narratively captivating. His decision to direct and write the screenplay himself highlights his deep involvement in the project, ensuring that the film reflects his unique creative perspective.

Tom Ford, known for his previous works such as A Single Man and Nocturnal Animals, has a proven track record in the film industry. A Single Man received critical acclaim, earning an Academy Award nomination, a BAFTA win, and other prestigious awards. His follow-up, Nocturnal Animals, was equally successful, winning the Venice Grand Jury Prize and receiving multiple award nominations.

Ford has expressed his passion for filmmaking, stating in a GQ interview, “I loved making the two films that I made. That was the most fun I’ve ever had in my entire life. I’m 62. Hopefully, I’ll remain somewhat together until 82. So I wanna spend the next 20 years of my life making films.”

Adele's Acting Ambitions

Adele has long been interested in acting, and she has hinted at her desire to work with Ford. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she mentioned, “There is one movie I want to do, but the guy whose movie it would be, he’s not mentally ready to write the script for it.” She continued, “I bug him every now and then about it, but he’s just not there yet. But that’s the only role I ever want. Because I think I’d nail it. I think I’d do really, really, really good at it.”

She also shared her thoughts on biopics, stating, “I get offered to do biopics of singers, and I think that’s too obvious. And also anyone that’s great enough to have a biopic about them, you’re just setting yourself up for disaster.”

Upcoming Filming and Release

Filming for Cry to Heaven is set to begin in London and Rome early next year, with a planned release in late 2026. While details about Adele's role are still under wraps, her casting alone has generated significant excitement. Ford’s reputation as a visionary director makes him an ideal collaborator for Adele, whose powerful ballads have resonated with audiences worldwide.

After selling his fashion label to Estée Lauder, Ford has shifted his focus back to cinema, signaling a new chapter in his multifaceted career. With Cry to Heaven, he is poised to make a strong return to the film industry, bringing his distinctive style and creativity to the forefront.
