Key travel update for Australians heading to Bali - essential info

Jetstar to Relaunch Flights from Avalon Airport to Bali

After a long hiatus, international flights from Avalon Airport in Victoria are set to return with the relaunch of Jetstar's service to Bali. This marks a significant development for Australian travelers seeking affordable and convenient access to the Indonesian holiday destination.

Jetstar announced that the route will officially resume on March 23, 2026. This is the first time since the cancellation of overseas services in early 2020 during the pandemic that an international flight will depart from Avalon Airport. The service will operate five times a week, using Jetstar’s A321neo LR fleet planes, which are known for their efficiency and comfort.

In addition to the Bali route, Jetstar will also resume its domestic service from Avalon to Adelaide on March 26. The airline plans to expand its services further by increasing the frequency of flights to Brisbane. Return flights to Adelaide will run seven times per week, while flights to Brisbane will increase to five times a week.

The new service offers a total of up to 320,000 low-fare seats annually, with 120,000 of those reserved for passengers traveling to Bali. This represents a significant opportunity for Australians looking to explore one of the most popular tourist destinations in Southeast Asia.

Major Upgrades at Avalon Airport

To accommodate the increased traffic brought by the new routes, Avalon Airport will undergo several upgrades. These include the addition of 1,000 new seats across the terminals and an extra 500 car parking spaces. The airport will also be equipped with enhanced security systems, improved runway lighting, and new water connections to the control tower.

These improvements are expected to create more than 80 new jobs and significantly boost Geelong's economy. The increased visitor numbers will also help to support local businesses and services in the region.

Improved Public Transport Links

The Victorian Government has also announced a new public transport connection to make it easier for workers and tourists to reach Avalon Airport. Route 18 buses will link Lara Station to Avalon Airport, operating seven days a week. This will provide a convenient and reliable option for those traveling to and from the airport.

Special Offers for Travelers

As part of the launch, Jetstar has introduced a special sale for Australian tourists traveling from Avalon to Bali, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, and the Gold Coast. The 48-hour sale ends midday on Wednesday, offering some of the lowest fares ever seen on these routes.

Travelers can grab a domestic flight for as low as $29 and an international fare to Bali starting from $199. This is an excellent opportunity for Australians to plan their next getaway without breaking the bank.

With these new routes and upgrades, Avalon Airport is set to become a key hub for both domestic and international travel. The combination of affordable fares, improved infrastructure, and better connectivity makes it an attractive option for travelers looking to explore Australia and beyond.
