Actor J.R. Ramirez Announces Engagement to Bonnie Leathers
Actor J.R. Ramirez, best known for his role as Detective Jared Vasquez on the television series Manifest, has officially announced his engagement to his fiancée, Bonnie Leathers. The 45-year-old Cuban-American actor shared the exciting news on Instagram through a joint post with his partner.
In the caption, he wrote, “I guess prayer and persistence really do work.” He added, “Thank you for bringing me my best friend. This one’s ALL YOU … ☺️.” The post featured two images: one showing the couple smiling side by side, and another capturing Bonnie showcasing her diamond ring against the backdrop of the ocean.
Bonnie responded to the post with a heartfelt message, writing, “Mrs Ramirez loading… prayed for you and the love we have, baby. So proud and blessed to be your future wife ❤️.”
J.R. Ramirez was previously in a long-term relationship with his Manifest co-star Melissa Roxburgh, but the couple quietly ended their relationship. A Romantic Getaway in Puerto Rico
The couple geotagged their location in the social media post as Playa Flamenco in Puerto Rico, hinting at a romantic trip that led to the proposal. Fans and friends flooded the comments with well-wishes, including fellow Manifest actor Matt Long, who said, “Congratulations!!” Emily VanCamp, who starred in Revenge, wrote, “So happy for you guys,” while JoAnna Garcia Swisher, from Reba, added, “CONGRATULATIONS!!!!”
Although it is not clear how long J.R. and Bonnie had been dating before the proposal, Bonnie’s earliest online post featuring her future husband was shared in December 2024. She previously posted a selfie with him in Paris, France, captioned, “Paris Mon Amour ❤️.” In September 2024, she shared a photo with J.R. and wrote, “Treat me like a princess and I’m yours,” according to People.

A Surprise Engagement
On Thursday, Bonnie shared a video montage of their Puerto Rico trip, reflecting on the surprise engagement. She used Beyoncé and Lady Gaga’s 2009 hit song Telephone as the soundtrack and captioned the video, “Kind of busy… simply went to Puerto Rico to mind my business and tan… and somehow returned engaged??!”
She continued, “Like, sorry in advance but I’m about to be insufferable. Thanks babe @jr8ramirez for all you do to give me the life of my dreams.”

While J.R. and Melissa Roxburgh were seen together in various photos over the years, including a Fiji vacation in December 2022 and an Instagram selfie from May 2023, the exact date of their breakup remains unknown.
