Russian convoy moving through fog in plain vehicles
Unsettling Footage of Russian Troops in a Desolate Landscape
Newly released footage has captured the movement of Russian troops through dense fog, with a convoy consisting of damaged vehicles that have lost their doors and windows. This scene has been compared to the chaotic imagery seen in the Mad Max movies. The video, shared by a reputable news outlet, shows soldiers clinging to battered cars and motorbikes as they move along a road covered in debris. A broken drone is also visible on the roadside, and the column of vehicles disappears into the mist.
This clip emerged as Moscow's forces announced new advances near the Ukrainian city of Kupiansk. According to reports, Russian troops claimed to have captured several railway stations and an oil depot on the eastern edge of the city. A commander using the call sign Hunter stated that units from the 1486th Motorised Rifle Regiment had pushed deep into the city and taken control of stops along the railway leading to Kupiansk Vuzlovyi, approximately four miles south of the city center. He also mentioned that fighting was ongoing around the nearby Kupiansk-Sortuvalnyi station.
Russia has been employing pincer movements to encircle the Ukrainian cities of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region and Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region. However, Ukraine reported on Monday that it had managed to deliver supplies to Myrnohrad, which is located east of Pokrovsk. Russian war bloggers shared an unverified video on Tuesday showing what they claimed were Russian forces entering Pokrovsk along a road shrouded in fog or mist.

Reuters could not immediately confirm the location or timing of the video. The clip showed Russian forces on motorcycles and in a mix of cars and other vehicles, many of which were stripped of their doors and windows. They drove along a road littered with debris while soldiers watched from the roadside. Some sat on the roofs of the battered cars, and a drone was seen beside the road.
Ukraine’s top military commander, Oleksandr Syrskyi, mentioned in an interview with the New York Post that Russia was concentrating about 150,000 troops in an effort to capture Pokrovsk. He noted that mechanized groups and marine brigades were part of this push. Syrskyi added that Ukrainian forces were utilizing built-up urban areas to slow down the progress of Russian troops and were confronting Russian sabotage units.
Escalation of Attacks on Energy Infrastructure
This situation comes after Ukraine struggled to restore power and heating on Sunday following Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. The state's power provider reported that its generating capacity had dropped to 'zero'. Moscow has intensified its attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure in recent months, launching hundreds of drones at energy facilities across the country overnight into Saturday.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian strikes on Russia's own infrastructure left over 20,000 people without power in regions bordering Ukraine, according to local authorities. Russian attacks disrupted electricity, heat, and water supplies in several cities. State power firm Centerenergo warned that its generating capacity had fallen to 'zero'.
"An unprecedented number of missiles and countless drones—several per minute—targeted the same thermal power plants that we had restored after the devastating attack of 2024," Centerenergo stated in a statement. Power cuts would last between eight and 16 hours a day across most regions of Ukraine on Sunday, as repairs were carried out and energy sourcing was redirected. Ukraine's energy minister described it as "one of the most difficult nights" since Russia sent troops into Ukraine in February 2022.
