Healing, Heritage, and Shores: Why Thailand is the Perfect Travel Escape

Thailand is more than just a destination known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant cities. It's a country that encourages travelers to take their time, immerse themselves in its rich culture, and return feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
At the World Travel Market in London, Chiravadee Khunsub, the deputy governor for International Marketing at the Tourism Authority of Thailand, shared her insights on what makes Thailand such an appealing travel destination.
"Thailand is a place where people can have happy times," Khunsub said. "We offer a wide range of tourism experiences, from the northern regions with numerous national parks and UNESCO World Heritage Sites to the southern areas known for their stunning beaches."
What truly distinguishes Thailand, according to Khunsub, is not only its natural beauty but also the warmth and hospitality of its people. Visitors often speak about the authenticity of their experiences, and the kindness of Thais plays a significant role in making these interactions memorable.
"We are renowned for our hospitality and exceptional service," she said with a smile. "This is one of the reasons why many tourists come back. Some provinces even see a 60% repeat visitor rate."
Known as 'The Land of Smiles,' Thailand is also encouraging travelers to explore beyond the typical tourist spots. The country has over 55 provinces to discover, and for visitors from Europe and America, 13 key provinces are highlighted.
For example, Nan in the north is described as being like Chiang Mai 30 years ago. It's a place where traditional culture is still very much alive, and the local lifestyle remains authentic.
Wellness is another major attraction in Thailand. Travelers can engage in activities such as Muay Thai training to improve their health. The country's wellness offerings are among the top five globally, thanks to its deep-rooted traditions in herbal medicine and Thai massage.
However, for Khunsub, the true essence of healing in Thailand goes beyond spas and treatments. It lies in the warmth of its people, the richness of its culture, and the way the country naturally slows down the pace of life.
