Heartbroken DJ Hospitalized Suddenly

DJ Martin Garrix, a renowned name in the electronic music scene, has had to cancel his upcoming performances due to an unexpected medical procedure. The 29-year-old artist recently shared a photo on Instagram showing himself in a hospital gown, which revealed that he had undergone surgery for appendicitis.

In a heartfelt message, Martin announced that he would not be able to perform at the Festival International Del Globo in Mexico on Saturday. He explained that his doctors strongly advised him to rest and recover to prevent any complications after the surgery.

"Dear Mexico 🇲🇽💔," Martin began. "I'm truly heartbroken to share that due to an unexpected case of appendicitis and the surgery that followed, I’m unable to perform at the Festival International Del Globo this Saturday. My doctors and team have strongly advised me to rest and recover to avoid any post-surgery complications."

Despite the setback, the DJ appeared in good spirits in the picture, making peace signs with his hands and smiling for the camera.

Appendicitis is a condition that causes swelling and inflammation of the appendix, leading to severe stomach pain. If left untreated, it can become life-threatening, as a ruptured appendix can lead to serious infections. Therefore, immediate surgical removal is usually necessary.

Just two weeks prior to this incident, Martin performed at Colorado’s Red Rocks venue, where U2 icon Bono was present to watch the show. Martin emphasized that this decision was not made lightly, expressing his deep connection to the country and the memories he has there.

"I have some of my favourite memories ever performing in this incredible country," he said. "Thank you so much for your understanding, love and support. A good reminder for me that I’m human too, and my body needs some extra time to properly heal. Sending lots of love — I’ll be back soon, I promise."

The festival, scheduled for November 15, featured Martin alongside other big names like Dimitri Vegas and Afrojack. Martin was set to headline the 'Dream Nite' event, having gained fame early in his career after being discovered by Tiesto.

His most popular track, "Animals," was released in 2013, and subsequent hits such as "Scared To Be Lonely" and "In The Name of Love" also achieved chart success. Martin has collaborated with various DJs and artists, including David Guetta, Bebe Rexha, Troye Sivan, Dua Lipa, and Usher.

He was ranked number one DJ in the world by DJ Mag for three consecutive years from 2016 to 2018. His contributions to the music industry have been significant, and fans are eagerly awaiting his return.
