Inside Mel B's 'Girl Power' Wedding

A Fairytale Wedding in Marrakesh

Mel B, also known as Melanie Brown, made her dream wedding come true with a beautiful ceremony in Marrakesh this year. The Scary Spice Girl tied the knot with her long-term partner, Rory McPhee, on a hot August day, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

The pop legend shared some stunning photos from the special day on her social media, showing her radiant smile in a red and orange beaded dress. The couple celebrated their wedding in two different ceremonies: first at St Paul’s Cathedral in London, and then at the Selman Hotel in Morocco just a month later.

Héloïse Agelou was responsible for coordinating the local events alongside Giuditta from Postcard Perfect Weddings and Caroline Black from Evelie. Their efforts helped create an unforgettable celebration that reflected the unique personality of Mel B.

A Kind and Grateful Bride

Héloïse described Mel B as one of the nicest brides she had ever worked with. “She wasn’t a bridezilla at all. I think she’s the nicest bride I’ve ever had,” she said during a Zoom call from her office in Marrakesh. Héloïse emphasized that Mel became a close friend through the experience.

“She’s the most understanding and grateful person I’ve met and worked with,” Héloïse added. This kindness extended to everyone involved in the event, including the staff who built the custom-built platform across the swimming pool for the ceremony.

During the three-day event, Mel B went out of her way to thank the workers. “My staff were building the stage on the water for her ceremony. So they were building it all night. And she went – at one o’clock or two o’clock in the morning – saying thank you to them for working on it, after her first event.”

Héloïse noted that this kind of humility is rare, especially for someone of Mel B's fame. “It’s not even about being a celebrity or not a celebrity, like it is such humbleness and authenticity to have any human go and thank everyone like that.”

A Unique Celebration

The wedding was filled with unique touches, from Mel B’s bejeweled red wedding dress to Rory slicing a bright red tiered cake with a sword. The celebration was captured by photographer Joshua Lawrence.

Héloïse admitted that the pyrotechnics on the day caused her some stress. “I was not breathing,” she confessed. Despite the lack of practice, everything went smoothly, and they managed to capture an incredible shot of the first color pop wedding snap in Morocco.

Another memorable moment was when Mel B insisted that the bar staff were included in the festivities. “During the evening, she asked all the bartenders to have a drink. She’s like, ‘only if you don’t drink, you’re all having a shot on me,’” Héloïse recalled.

A Special Connection

Héloïse highlighted how Mel B showed respect for the local culture and was genuinely grateful. “They were very touched by the way she respected the culture, and was really grateful, and I thought that was really something very, very special.”

A Down-to-Earth Star

Throughout the conversation, Héloïse emphasized that Mel B is one of her favorite clients. “She has such consideration for people’s time and effort, it’s unbelievable,” she said. “This woman hasn’t forgotten where she comes from, that’s very rare in anyone who succeeds.”

Mel B echoed these sentiments, describing Héloïse as a strong, powerful, and incredible woman. “It was a joy to work with Héloïse. It was a Girl Power wedding as everyone from Giuditta, the wedding planner, to Caroline Black, my wedding dress guru from Evelie, to the wonderful Héloïse!”

Héloïse concluded the call with a sense of admiration for Mel B, leaving her feeling inspired to plan her own future wedding.

In the end, there’s nothing scary about Mel B—just a kind, humble, and down-to-earth star who made her fairytale ending a reality.
