Jupiter Retrograde: 4-Month Star Sign Forecast

Each year, for a period of four months, the planet of positivity, expansion, and good fortune—Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system beyond the Sun—enters into an annual celestial reversal. Known in traditional astrology as the Greater Benefic, Jupiter is a highly favored influence in the zodiac. This year, its retrograde begins on November 11 in the Water sign of Cancer and continues until March 11, 2026. During this time, Jupiter will retrace its steps by 10 degrees.
Jupiter is known to be exalted in Cancer but also rules the dynamic Sagittarius and the sensitive Pisces. For individuals with their Ascendant, Sun, or Moon in these three zodiac signs, this can have a significant impact. Here’s how:
- Cancer: Individuals may need to reflect on how best to express their individual talents and flair, with a possible reset.
- Sagittarius: This is a time to carefully manage business interests or shared finances.
- Pisces: This period may inspire a desire to seek a more fulfilling social or romantic life.
Jupiter's retrograde is likely to affect everyone, as its outgoing and self-assured energies (stemming from its rulership of the adventurous Fire sign of Sagittarius) are balanced by its more philosophical and spiritual dimension (from its traditional rulership of the Water sign of Pisces). For all of us, things may slow down—especially around property valuations, buying and selling (Cancer being the sign of the home), as well as international affairs, travel, contracts, higher education, publishing, broadcasting, languages, trade, the rule of law, religion, and spirituality.

In an interesting twist, as Jupiter turns retrograde, it coincides with Mercury, the messenger planet, having turned retrograde on November 9. Mercury governs fast communication, technology, the digital age, media, websites, social media, commerce, and short journeys through its influence over the Air sign Gemini, as well as precision and practicality through its influence over the Earth sign Virgo. However, Mercury is currently located in Sagittarius—a sign where it does not fare particularly well, being considered in Detriment. The combination of both Jupiter and Mercury in retrograde is unlikely to be helpful for buying and selling, trading, importing and exporting, with particular areas of vulnerability and disruption more likely around communication systems, the movement of goods, and travel.
However, the ‘Steady Eddie’ of the heavens, Saturn, offers support. As Jupiter begins this phase, Saturn encourages us to use his powers of scrutiny, wisdom, and reflection in the psychological Pisces. This prompts us to accept that while things may not move at the speed of light, if we hold realistic expectations (very Saturn), take care with what we say, claim or promote (and avoid exaggeration—something that can be very Jupiter), take things a little slower, and get more in touch with our emotional bearings—checking information carefully and ensuring we are comfortable with how we feel (Cancer)—we can navigate these four months effectively.
That said, there is a heightened possibility of disruption to distribution systems, banking, cyber security, and financial markets through to next March.
Here’s how your star sign can weather the storm:
- Aries (March 21 to April 20): You could find yourself yearning to learn more about your forebears or traveling to meet family members overseas. If you’re not settled in your home, the desire to move can increase.
- Taurus (April 21 to May 21): You can be more conscious of the people you mix with every day but also set a higher bar for who meets your expectations. In love, an intense attraction can be hard to ignore but can you resist?
- Gemini (May 22 to June 21): Jupiter can bring you good financial news, despite the retrograde, especially where you’ve worked hard and have a trusted formula. Shared finances could prove trickier, so clear terms of reference are a must.
- Cancer (June 22 to July 23): Your need for serenity at the heart of your world could see you considering a move to be nearer to relatives or changing your job for one that feeds your soul purpose, especially if demands have been great this year.
- Leo (July 24 to August 23): Part of you may be in the mood to connect socially, while another part is happy cocooning yourself at home. It may be a juggle at times. You can feel especially and unusually nostalgic for people from your past.
- Virgo (August 24 to September 23): With your ruler Mercury in a tender link to the combustible Mars, you can find yourself pickier about who you socialise with. Plans may also be fluid for a festive family gathering. A long-term plan may need a rethink.
- Libra (September 24 to October 23): Your career and financial prospects remain bright, Libra, but whatever you’re offered, don’t be too quick to accept. Jupiter could still make you a little too generous. Give yourself thinking room before sealing any deal.
- Scorpio (October 24 to November 22): Despite Jupiter and Mercury’s rewinds, you’re likely to be on the move in the months ahead and exploring anywhere new and fresh can be inspiring. Just carefully check the details on costs and try not to rush your booking.
- Sagittarius (November 23 to December 21): On one hand, you can be determined to do your own thing; on the other, you may find there’s something to be gained by working closely with someone else. An inner blockage may need clearing to find the way through this.
- Capricorn (December 22 to January 20): Jupiter rewinds in your sector of relationships. If there have been strains in a close partnership or romance since the summer, this is an ideal chance to think things through and reset. But letting go of past resentments is key.
- Aquarius (January 21 to February 19): Whether it’s your exercise routine or lack of one, domestic demands or those of your job, getting things more balanced is essential. If you’ve not had so much time to socialise, meeting up with old friends can lift you now.
- Pisces (February 20 to March 20): Saturn has dimmed your energy and afflicted your ruler Jupiter for 18 months. Now they work together to help you. A breakthrough at work is possible, but you’ll need to be able to express your creativity to truly thrive.
