Kim Kardashian Mocks Caitlyn Jenner's Transition as 'TV Gold'

Kim Kardashian's Humorous Take on Caitlyn Jenner's Transition

Kim Kardashian recently shared a lighthearted comment about her stepfather, Caitlyn Jenner, during an episode of the family's reality show. The 45-year-old described Caitlyn's transition as "TV gold," highlighting the dramatic and entertaining nature of the situation.

During the episode, Kim also discussed the various pressures involved in filming a scripted program. She noted that while working on her legal drama, All's Fair, which stars alongside Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, and Niecy Nash, she found the experience quite different from reality TV.

Kim explained that in reality TV, the goal is to make the audience like you for who you are. However, if your life seems too calm, it can be frustrating because viewers might find it unexciting. In contrast, when filming a scripted show, the focus is more on whether you can act effectively.

"It's like, what happened to the days when your stepdad turns into a woman? That was TV gold," Kim joked during the episode, referencing her stepfather's transition. This comment sparked some laughter and conversation among the family members.

Caitlyn, who was born male, publicly announced her identity as transgender in April 2015 during a 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer. She later confirmed in her 2017 memoir that she had undergone gender-affirming surgery.

The aftermath of Caitlyn's coming out was featured on the Kardashians' reality show at the time. She was married to Kris for 22 years and they had two children, Kendall and Kylie. During this time, she also became a stepmother to Kris's four older children.

The couple divorced in 2015 after initially announcing their separation in 2013. Caitlyn has since appeared on this season of The Kardashians as the family prepares to say goodbye to their childhood home in Los Angeles.

Over the years, there have been reports of strained relationships between some members of the Kardashian family and Caitlyn. This tension escalated during her press tour in 2024 to promote her appearance in House of Kardashian, a three-part mini series that explored the family in-depth.

According to TMZ, the Kardashians did not agree with the project. During the press tour, Caitlyn mentioned that she no longer speaks to Kris and called the situation "sad." This reportedly upset the family, including Kylie and Kendall, who took Kris's side.

Caitlyn later took to X to defend her decision to appear in the project, which was produced by Sky, a Europe-based company owned by Comcast. She stated that she participated in the project to defend her family and praised Kris, calling her the "mastermind behind it all."

Caitlyn claimed that she meant to clarify that she didn't speak with Kris in the context of the project, but they were still in touch sporadically. "To be clear - I am thrilled that @KrisJenner and I are able to talk and co-parent and see each other here and there," she said. "We spent 22 amazing years together."

However, TMZ reported that Caitlyn was "extremely remorseful" about the comments and that she has since mended fences with the family. In October 2024, Kim posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram to celebrate Caitlyn's 75th birthday. Caitlyn appreciated the gesture by reposting the post on her Instagram stories.

Caitlyn also documented her journey and new life as a single woman on the KUWTK spinoff series I Am Cait, which aired for two seasons on E!
