Omoda 7: Affordable SUV Under £30k in Singapore

Omoda 7 SUV Set to Enter UK Market in 2026

Omoda, the rapidly expanding Chinese car manufacturer, has announced its entry into the mid-size SUV market in the UK starting from January 2026. The new Omoda 7 SUV is positioned between the Omoda 5 and the flagship Omoda 9 models, marking a significant addition to the brand’s lineup in the country.

The Omoda 7 will be available through Omoda & Jaecoo's extensive UK dealer network. This model is expected to offer the same value for money that buyers have come to associate with the Chery-owned brand, with prices starting at £29,915.

Since its launch in August 2024, Omoda has become a key player in the growing Chinese car presence in the UK. According to the latest SMMT figures, Omoda now represents 1.45 per cent of the UK market.

Design and Features

The Omoda 7 five-seater has been specifically tailored for British roads and lifestyles. It emphasizes premium features at an affordable price point. The design reflects Omoda's 'O-Universe' and 'Art in Motion' philosophies, focusing on aerodynamics.

Key design elements include a borderless diamond-pattern grille, slim follow-me-home LED Matrix headlights at the front, and lightning bolt-shaped tail light clusters at the rear. Buyers can choose from five exterior colors: Selenite White, Obsidian Black, Chromite Silver, Larimar Green, and Iced Moonstone.

Trim Levels and Specifications

Buyers will have two trim levels to choose from: Knight and Noble. Both trims are available with two engine specifications sourced from the parent company, Chery International.

The entry-level Knight trim includes a heated eco leather steering wheel, dual-zone air-conditioning, a six-speaker Sony audio system, cooled 50W wireless smartphone connection, and 19-inch alloy wheels.

The higher Noble trim offers additional luxury features such as a 12-speaker sound system, six-way electric adjustment for driver and front passenger, heated and ventilated gaming-inspired seats, power tailgate, a 1.45-metre panoramic sunroof, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The Noble trim also introduces an air-conditioning fragrance system and four-zone voice control, which are firsts for any UK-delivered Omoda.

Both trims come with three Isofix points and a 639-litre boot space alongside the five seats.

Engine Options

The Omoda 7 is available as a fast-charging plug-in hybrid using the Super Hybrid System (SHS), shared with sister company Jaecoo. This system combines an 18.3 kWh battery with a 1.5-litre engine, offering a full-tank range of over 700 miles. With 56 EV miles, the SHS ensures the vehicle never runs flat.

The SHS provides 201hp and 365 Nm of torque, allowing the Omoda 7SHS to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 8.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 112 mph. It supports fast charging at up to 40 kW, reaching 80% charge in 20 minutes. Additionally, it includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) via a 3.3 kW port.

For those preferring a petrol option, the Omoda 7 is also available with a 1.6-litre TGDI petrol engine delivering 145hp and 275 Nm of torque. This variant accelerates from 0-62 mph in 10.4 seconds with a top speed of 118 mph.

Safety and Technology

The Omoda 7 has been optimized by Omoda's German R&D team for European roads, with a strong focus on safety. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane keeping assistance.

In terms of technology, all Omoda 7 models come equipped with a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument display. The main display supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with over-the-air updates. A 540-degree camera with transparent chassis view helps prevent minor dents, while easy swipe-down menus allow quick access to custom preferences and 21 ADAS systems.

Pricing and Warranty

The Omoda 7 will go on sale from January 2026. The petrol variant starts at £29,915 OTR, while the hybrid version starts at £32,000 OTR. Both versions include a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty (whichever comes first), an eight-year warranty on the battery for the SHS, and RAC Home Start as standard for the duration of the warranty.
