Who Helped Craft Macca's New Charity Anthem for McHappy Day?
McHappy Day 2025: A New Anthem for a Cause
McDonald's is making waves this year with its McHappy Day campaign, and it’s all thanks to an unexpected collaboration. The fast-food giant has partnered with one of Australia's most popular electronic bands, Mashd N Kutcher, to create the official McHappy Day 2025 anthem. This special track not only raises funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities but also celebrates the power of community, courage, and kindness.
What sets this song apart is its unique blend of music and real-life stories. The track features the authentic voices and laughter of children who are staying at Ronald McDonald House South Brisbane. From casual conversations around the dinner table to playful giggles in the playground, the song captures the joy and resilience of families supported by the charity.
"It's the first time we've been involved with McHappy Day, so we were very excited," said Matt James, the frontman of Mashd N Kutcher, in an interview with Daily Mail. "McDonald's reached out and asked us to make a song for McHappy Day – and of course, we couldn't say no."

The band, known for their high-energy performances and genre-blending style, was invited to visit Ronald McDonald House in Brisbane. There, they met families and children, and turned those precious moments into music.
"We went into the House with some instruments – a keyboard and some percussion bits – and let the kids have a jam," Matt explained. "We recorded those moments and incorporated them into the final track. So what you're hearing isn't just music – it's their joy, laughter and voices mixed into our sound."
He described the experience as "incredibly touching and inspiring." Meeting the families and seeing their strength and positivity through tough times was something he will never forget. That energy really influenced the uplifting tone of the track.
A Collaboration with Purpose
The anthem was created in collaboration with McDonald's Australia, aiming to shine a light on Ronald McDonald House Charities, which supports more than 69,000 families every year. Matt shared his amazement at the impact the organization has across the country.
"Each house really is like a home away from home for families in need. Learning about that and being able to share it with our audience is pretty special."

The track has officially dropped and will play in McDonald's restaurants nationwide. "Seeing the kids light up while playing instruments, sharing laughs and even singing the Macca's jingle was magic," Matt said. "It was a privilege to bring a little fun into their day, and I think that magic shines through in the song."
When asked about his go-to McDonald's order, Matt laughed: "I'd have to say a Big Mac – especially this year, since two dollars from every Big Mac goes straight to Ronald McDonald House Charities."
Looking Ahead
Mashd N Kutcher are also preparing to release their second album early next year. "It's full of high-energy dance records – with a lot of rock influence," Matt teased. "We'll be touring around Australia and internationally in 2026."
The group made their debut as a dance act and electronic band in 2014 with their first single "Do It Now," which peaked at number 33 on the ARIA charts. However, they are most well-known for their 2020 release "Get On The Beers," which remixed a press conference held by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews during the pandemic.
McHappy Day 2025 takes place on Saturday, November 15, with two dollars from every Big Mac sold donated directly to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
